Code of Conduct
Welcome to Upstate Shuffleboard!!
We are excited to have you as a participant in the league. To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and respectful environment for all participants, we have established the following Code of Conduct. By participating in the league, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Code of Conduct and agree to abide by its principles and guidelines. This code applies to the Shuffleboard of Directors, players/members, FASC staff, and spectators during all regular season games, playoffs games, and special events (i.e. Battle for Ultimate Glory, etc.).
All players should exhibit a spirit of good sportsmanship and conduct themselves in a manner that ensures a welcoming, respectful, and comfortable environment for all participants.
Participants should realize that we are all representatives of a global shuffleboard community and be stewards of the sport. As such, participants must respect the diversity of all participants, to include, but not limited to age, race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender identification, sexual, religion and disabilities of all participants.
No action or attempt to intimidate, harass or demean opponents, teammates, members, FASC staff or spectators will be tolerated. This includes threats, hurtful language, inappropriate disruption of events, unwanted sexual attention, bullying, or stalking- in person, online, or via social media.
Be aware of one’s surroundings. Be courteous, responsible, and respectful.
The Code of Conduct will be enforced as necessary. Anyone violating the intent of the policy may have actions taken against them, to include warnings, and the potential for being removed from the league. The following steps will be taken as necessary:
First infraction will result in a private conversation to discuss where the infraction occurred, come to an agreement regarding future behavior, and discuss potential steps should the behavior continue.
Second infraction will result in a private discussion, a suspension of one week from league participation/attendance, and further conversation about future accountability.
Third infraction will result in the participant being asked to leave the league.
All decisions by the Board Members involved shall be final. Any participant(s) that causes a disturbance concerning a decision(s) or verbally abuses the acting Board Member could be held accountable through the process listed above.
